Racing through the rain

Saturday dawned wet at Silverstone, which meant there was the opportunity to see the cars practicing in the wet conditions, which always make them look spectacular.

This is a shot of the #17 Porsche 919 Hybrid being driven by Mark Webber coming out of Club corner to begin a new lap. He would go on to set pole position in the qualifying session in the afternoon.

The rain only lasted for about and hour and then the rest of the day was quite bright, although pretty windy and very cold at times.

In the afternoon there was the 4 Hours of Silverstone race for the European Le Mans Series, and it was a thrilling race with the lead changing several times in the last hour as the top three cars all took turns leading (often through car to car contact). The post race press conference was quite tense as the car which won hit both the second and third place cars while they were leading.
