Silver Anniversary

Two silver circles,
Bound together by a ring,
In one love always.

Mark and I got married 25 years ago today.  It seems both a moment and a lifetime ago.    We've been through all that for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health  malarky, had two lovely children, survived their teenage years and are still together ... it must be love!

The ceremony 25 years ago, was at the Registry office in Lewes, which is at Southover Grange, a 16th century manor house in the heart of town surrounded by beautiful gardens.  Our post-wedding meal was at Shelleys Hotel (which isn't as grand as it thinks it is), a short walk from Southover Grange via the very steep, cobbled Keere Street, which we walked down and then up again in all our finery!

Anyway, to celebrate today, we thought we'd go to Shelleys for lunch and then walk down to Southover ...we arrived at Shelleys and sat down.  There was a small vase on the table with a dead rose in it .... not a good sign.  After about 5 minutes a bar-person/waiter arrived with a menu, but disappeared quickly before we could order any drinks.  There was no-one serving at the bar. In fact there was no-one anywhere apart from an elderly couple sitting in the sun reading the Daily Telegraph (need I say more).  We waited another 10 minutes, but no-one appeared to take our order, so we decided to give up on a posh lunch and head for the pub  instead, where we had a lovely lunch sitting in the pub garden in the sun.

Then a wander to the scene of the crime so I could do a then and now picture, which is on Facebook here if interested.

Anyway as a present Mark bought me this beautiful silver bracelet.  It is two bangles bound together by a ring  inscribed with the words "one love".  Awww!  What a lucky girl am I!  All I gave him was silver hair!
