Underbelly

The underside of our rig, not much to see really. The marine riser in the center connecting the rig to the seabed and through which most of the drilling is done.

Two of our columns (far center right) we have 6 total, 3 on each side. These support the upper structure of the rig between the hulls and the main deck. As seen there is around 65' of the rig underwater (the remainder of the columns and the hulls).

There are also the diagonal braces that give extra support between the main deck and the hulls (or pontoons as we call them).

The two thin overlapping inverted V's at the far right are our tow bridles. These are lowered and connected to a tow vessel when the rig moves to a new location.
