Edinburgh

Out with my Third Wednesday girls today.  We took the coach to Edinburgh and walked down to the Parliament Building where we had an early lunch. We were booked for a tour of the Queen's Gallery and Holyrood House, and after lunch we headed over, first to the Gallery where there was an exhibition on Gold, its many aspects.  It was very interesting.

I enjoyed very much Holyrood House, which is the official residence of the Queen when in Scotland.  I had been at a Royal Garden Party some years ago but we were only in the grounds of the Palace, and not in the actual Palace.  We were given audio machines and went round at our own pace.  I found the most interesting part was the oldest part of the Palace, and the rooms of Mary Queen of Scots.  We then had a walk around the gardens which is coming alive now with spring flowers.

Next, we headed to the Tolbooth Bar for coffee or drinks as we wished, and spent an hour or so there before walking back up the Royal Mile and over to the bus station for our coach home.

It was a very nice day in Edinburgh, with sunshine and only one little shower, fortunately when we were indoors!   More photos here
