Life of a bubble maker

Beer and its creator

Finished work for the week today. Having a couple of days off with J’s parents. They arrived OK on the train this afternoon.
Finished work on time to get back to have enough time for a bite to eat before heading out to the Science Festival to see Give in to Fermentation. RD couldn’t make it so caught up with DR instead.
Great evening sponsored by Brewdog. The first guest was their head experimental brewer Nick Zeigler. Here is he in full explanation with one of their creations. Very interesting talk about how to use different yeasts to create the flavors you want in a beer instead od some of the natural flavors you don’t.
Second guest was Graeme Walker Professor of Zymology, who explained more about the yeasts we use in everyday life and how they work. Finally Ben Reade, former head of the Nordic food lab, took it all down to a very easily level to understand, explaining more about using fermentation to create other foods and pickles.

Great night. Had a beer on the way home as DR had a pass out
