Stars in the scrub

The blackthorn thickets at the nature reserve are just at their best. The sheer exuberance of pure white blossom just amazes me every April. Get up close and it's even more amazing - thousands of perfect star-like flowers with a constant stream of insects visiting all day. Withdraw and watch from a distance and there are the long-tailed tits flying in with nesting material, using exactly the same bush where I found their perfect lichen-hair-moss nest 3-years ago.
