"Duffers Fortnight".

This is the beautiful Mayfly, also known as "Trout Food"
Trout fishermen try to emulate the Mayfly by tying artificial variations in order to tempt the (normally) shy and wily trout in to certain becoming a pan fried trout.

The last week in May and the first week in June (local variations may apply) is known as "Duffers Fortnight". Its the main hatch for the mayfly, on still and on moving water, when Trout go absolutely ape for it. It is spectacle to watch and fantastic sport for the Fly Fisherman/woman.

It is said that, if a fisherman can't catch a trout on the fly this fortnight, then he is a true "Duffer"!
