Stately homes of England

This is a view of the south lawn at Stowe House in Buckinghamshire. Following the utterly ludicrous extravagance of the Duke of Buckingham in the 19th century, the house and all its contents were sold in the 1920s to pay millions of pounds worth of debt. Just before the house was about to be demolished it was bought and turned into a school.
