proud mama...

...of 5 little ducklings

are they not the cutest ever? according to one local photographer... who hangs around my lake - there haven't been new ducks there in a very long time... he just noticed them last night - was surprised with all the goslings around, that mama duck has been able to protect them... her nest has to be hidden in the small island in the middle of the lake with the others - so she should be proud... she's done a wonderful job.

what's funny - is all the goose papa's hang around... helping out with their young so you can tell with the goslings who belongs to whom... with these tiny ducklings - it's anybody's guess! the male ducks have scattered - keeping their distance now... maintaining a tight little circle amidst themselves in the middle of the lake - yet away from mama and the babies... i wonder why that is - why they don't associate with her... do they not care anymore? are they being delinqent dads? so interesting to observe the behaviors of animals...

it was quite the day - saw the blue heron, too... think it's got a nest somewhere as it caught 4 fish - i got wonderful shots of it as well, but since i've never seen ducklings decided to post them instead... oh - and i made another new photographer friend... he paid me great compliments - thinking i couldn't be any older than in my early 30's... what a sweet talker - it worked though - making for...
