It's Grim Up North

Spent the day preparing a spreadsheet of the photography competitions I want to enter during the year. Main criteria being a genuine competition and no random use of the photos that you enter.

Companies now run photo competitions to garner images for their websites and marketing material and claim the right to use any photo that is entered into that competition for their own purposes. Not good.

There are also many websites that charge you to enter a 'competition' and pay out some of the entrance fee as a prize. I.E. The website is a business, rather than a specific competition.

This morning a flyer from the local Lib-Dem candidate sidled through the letterbox . The candidate's photograph makes him look very uncomfortable. As G said: "He looks as if he went to a stag do and woke up in the morning to discover that he'd volunteered to be a Lib Dem candidate in an unwinnable seat."
