We were working very central today; in the middlle of nowhere. I gave our access route great consideration.
Driving on the A9, south of Drumochter it is almost possible to see our work place at the south end of Loch Garry (This is not Loch Garry near Invergarry). about four miles away. A twenty minute track drive- with permission- takes you to within 2km walking albeit with very heavy back packs of the site. From the same point on the A9 you can continue on bitmac via Trinafour and Kinloch Rannoch about an hour to the entry point off the north side of Loch Rannoch. From here there is a full hour on an unpaved estate road to get right up to the site. So other factors staying the same you can drive then walk for about 50 minutes or drive two hours . The logistics are reversed at night.
There is an attraction to stepping off site straight in to the car if it has been a long wet day but we have a good settled spell with high pressure in charge so we did the walk. We didn't actually save two hours we just spent longer working instead.
I'm not sure if it was the walk with the heavy pack or the after effects of CMD yesterday but the legs felt pretty weary tonight.
