Maize cob nibbled

The birds I was expecting to see when I walked past the maize paddock didn't eventuate so action Plan B. A maize cob which has been nibbled by the birds I would guess. I have to grin to myself when I see a human has broken off a cob and had a nibble expecting it to be sweet and sugary like sweet corn. The evidence that it wasn't is usually left for the birds and mice to nibble further on.
