Here there and everywhere

Good Morning Cairo!

This is the view from our room, looking out to the right. The trees are on Midan Mesaha, which is one of the main squares in Dokki and has a few cafes, our dry cleaners, the hotel where we can have a beer or swim up on the roof terrace. The white building is the German Institute. And, very important, there's a bank machine on the square. Walking along to the left from these trees and the Institute for a couple of minutes is the supermarket Metro - think it's open 24 hours. There are always street sellers too, selling fruit and veg and basketware.

Despite the very urban landscape here, the noise of traffic and horns isn't too bad for Cairo and I can even hear birds from the trees under the window, which turn bright orange when blooming - hopefully while we're still here!
