Large red Damselfly

It was lovely and sunny at lunch time today, so at lunch time I took opportunity to have a quick look at our school pond. As I walked round I was buzzed by something, which on closer inspection turned out to be this wonderful tenneral (newly hatched) male Large red damselfly  Pyrrhosoma nymphla . These common damselflies are usually the first to show in the spring...and a very welcome sight!
As I was photographing him, a second one came fluttering by.....at least that solves the mystery of what the damselfly nymphs are going to turn in to:-)
