Treasure Island Bench

The Darn Road is an old route which runs from Bridge of Allan to Dunblane by the banks of the Allan Water. The young Robert Louis Stevenson frequented the walk when on holiday with his parents in Bridge of Allan. A small cave by the path has long been believed to have been the inspiration for the cave of Ben Gunn in "Treasure Island".
In recognition of this a wood carved seat has recently been placed here. It is a skilful piece of work, depicting a treasure chest, a parrot, skull and cross bones and a treasure map. It also offers a lovely spot to sit and admire the river which today was glistening in the spring sunshine.
PS I have no idea who the craftsman/woman is
