Great Crested Grebe

Another busy day. This morning I went to my art group then off to Shrewsbury for an appointment.

Afterwards I couldn't resist popping to Venus Pool Nature Reserve to see which birds were about. Some people in the hide said that the lapwing nests on the island had been predated, probably by crows or mink. Poor things, I hope they'll try again but the same fate could befall them.

This is one of a very beautiful Great Crested Grebe pair on the pool.
