Stow

The weather turned from bright sunshine to overcast and drizzle as we headed south this afternoon on the first stage of our trip to see relatives in England.

South of Edinburgh we took one of our usual scenic detours down a bit of the A7 before heading across country to the A697 north of Greenlaw.

Sheep - and lambs - are everywhere at the moment. Here we see just few of them beside the Earlston Road above the village of Stow, against a background of layered hills in the rolling Borders landscape.

This stretch of our journey took us next on minor roads via Blainslie, Legerwood and the tiny post box at Bassendean before leading us to the A697 near Houndslow.
