61st Three Peaks Race.

Up early to drive over to Horton in Ribblesdale to catch the start of the Three Peaks Race. It's the only time you see the runners all together. So decided to take my blip there as the runners follow the path before they climb Pen-y-Gent. We then drove to Ribbleshead to stand near the famous viaduct and see the runners pass us before they scale Whernside. We ran the mile back to the car to rush down to the Hill Inn where there was a checkpoint before the now very weary runners climbed the final peak of Ingleborough before they descended to the finish. The rain never ceased to fall and it has been really cold standing there but I was fully kitted out so how the runners felt I cannot imagine.
Winner did the race in 2 hours 51 minutes and 42 seconds!
Lots of runners don't make the two cut offs so are prevented from finishing the race. (This is done for their own safety)
We had the privilege of watching Alison, a running friend who has run fifteen consecutive Three Peak Races and she has had three children in that time!
