Flight back

The end of the BOBB 2015 trip was a little troubled due to terrible storms that built up all along the Eastcoast and Midwest this morning. It caused us to spend 5 hours waiting for our flight out of Jacksonville (on the 23rd)  which did not come in the end. So no connecting flight to Reno that day either. Instead re-booked to Dallas and an overnight stay on our costs there. When the weather is bad , the airlines are not obliged to pay for hotels when you have to stay overnight somewhere.
Dallas had beautiful weather that night, although we arrived too late, 10 pm, to enjoy it. The next morning we got up early to be in time for our flight to Reno. Meanwhile the bad weather had arrived in Dallas too and for all the flights out there was only one air corridor. This caused a real jamming on the runways. Never seen anything like it. While all these airplanes out there waited with running motors, our pilot let us wait for 2 and a half hour but with no running motors close to the airport. That allowed him to save gasoline and when after all that time many of the planes out there had to turn around and tell their passengers that they could not get out that day, our pilot all of a sudden made a real quick B-line to the runway and soon there after we were in the air. And we sure were happy to be on our way. We  learned after our arrival in Reno mid afternoon local time, that the air traffic for all the areas with the storms and hurricanes was blocked for 2 or 3 days. The total trip from the East coast to the West coast took us 24 hours this time...
I had no window seat but for this spectacular sight of the dry west landscape my neighbor allowed me to hold the IPhone in front of his nose :-)
It is so dry, so barren and still all of this once has been created by water!
