Hampshire in Northumberland

This is not a common breed up here - or anywhere else in UK apparently as the shepherd says this is a famous flock. They lamb a lot later than the other breeds here, and this wee one is still in the little corral, so is only a day or two old. All the lambs are this colour at first.

It is really cold now - friend A and I had a walk on the moor this morning, then we sat in the garden for coffee. First we put on our fleeces, then the coats - when we started hunting in pockets for gloves we retreated inside.

Mr C and I are very concerned about friends in Nepal. We know Su, our guide to Everest Base camp, is reported safe, but we have heard nothing of Sanjiv, our guide to Annapurna base camp. I know they will have lots to do as I'm sure they will be helping in the rescue. The loss of life and the destruction of wonderful historic buildings has been devastating. We'll be fundraising.
