Open Studios

Today was Open Studios day in our neck of the woods. The idea is that local artists open up their studios for people to come an nosy round, see their work, and, possibly, buy something. Its the second year, and is proving enormously popular. Its impossible to see all, but you can do half with a decent walk or drive around. Last year we did the south side, so this time we headed to the north side. Like last year, we had blue skies for it, so its been a really pleasant afternoon.

The artists vary hugely. There was a Japanese potter (my favourite), a jewellery maker, embroiderers, a wood turner, several sculptors, and, of course, painters in a number of different styles.

This particular picture was taken in the home of David Lyon - who was a favourite of one of my friends. He uses very vibrant colours to paint wildflowers, so the pictures are very cheerful.
