Give Us This Day

…..Our Daily Bread. Which is apt really as it's a Sunday and this little fella was in St Mary's Church cemetery, Ross-on-Wye.

I'd taken some time out between rehearsal and performance as we'd played at the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association Entertainment Contest in the Larruperz Centre. It's a rather modest affair these days just seven bands in the Open Section - that's bands from different sections (divisions) competing against each other. We were the highest placed Second Section Band (only two entered) and third overall. Plus, our Soprano Cornet player won the soloist award with a superb rendition of an arrangement of Live and Let Die; a la James Bond. All in all pretty satisfied with the results and during the day I managed to catch up with fellow bandsman from around the county and beyond. Mostly in the bar, as is traditional in brass band circles of course.

Getting back to the cemetery, I did blip from here the last time we had a brass band contest in Ross, 30th November 2014. It's a really interesting place and not the last time I'll visit I hope.
