Same but different

Yesterday I glimpsed this super image and puzzled a little as to where it had been taken. We travel the A66 so often and, knowing there are not that many places it is possible to stop, we felt sure we could correctly identify the location. We weren’t at all sure. Then we forgot all about it, as we got ready for our return home the next day.

Today we have travelled back north – from Kent to Cumbria. I realised as we got to the A66 that I had taken no photos and, as it was such a lovely afternoon, we stopped at one of the laybys – one we have stopped at many times before and I got out to take a picture – and well you can guess – it was the exact spot that we had been puzzling over. This is almost the Cumberland border and I was struck by the difference in the landscape from where we had spent the last ten days in the south. The lack of leaves was also very noticeable.

So, not the same classy kind of picture that is typical of lynnfot, but here is a similar view – in colour.
