On the Cote del la Redoute

Today was the day of Liege, Bastogne Liege. More than 100 years old and the oldest of the classics it is about 250 kms long and features a number of hills. Several of them come in quick succession in the final 80 kms and perhaps the most famous is La Redoute. A monster of a climb, 2.4 Kms long with several really steep sections. We positioned ourselves halfway up where there was a giant screen and a very large crowd. (Having cycled all the way up- just- beforehand.) This picture looks just like the eventual winner Alejandro Valverde (who also won the Flèche Wallone earlier in the week), but I think it might be one of his team mates!
