Homeward bound

This photo was taken on the last leg of a ten mile walk.  The walk started along the South West Coastal path at Budleigh Salterton then turned  inland via Hayes Wood to Yettington and Colaton Raleigh, then on to Otterton returning along the river Otter.  It was a very varied scenic walk encompassing sea views, woods, open commons, river walking and small villages. Historic buildings were pointed out in Hayes Barton the village where Sir Walter Raleigh was born.  One farm house we passed has a thatched top to the stone wall where solitary bees were present. We also saw many Orange Tipped butterflies, one of the signs of spring as they do not overwinter, and a few blue butterflies.

A good walk, that started with some drizzle which soon cleared up and eventually became sunny by the end of the day. Now its time to rest the feet in front of the television.
