Scottish Series

This is the weekend of the Clyde Cruising Club's annual Scottish Series , which is held in Tarbert on the shores of Loch Fyne. It brings well over a hundred yachts to the marina in the harbour, a fact that was evident last night as I came in on the ferry from Portavadie. In fact one or two of the yachts came out past the ferry, for some are now berthing at Portavadie marina as well.

I was attending, and saying a word or two at, the Cruising Club's "thank you" reception for local help, which featured a magnificent buffet prepared by the ladies of the Tarbert Bowling Club amongst others. It is a long time since I have seen such a mountain of crab claws - a very Uist treat which Cathleen and I were not slow to sample !

The sun was shining too - only downside was the midges which were in evidence as soon as you left the waterside.
