afterDARK fireflies

Wow - what a fabulous evening. The rain had held off for soccer (mainly) but then set in for the rest of the day, and wusses that we were, we had hoped for a cancellation of the afterDARK firefly walk at the Botanic Gardens.

That was not to be - these walks are only cancelled if the weather is considered hazardous to your health - so luckily we had rugged up extra warm and weather proof! We started off with a cocoa to warm us up, made some beautiful lanterns (that were cast aside in favour of more weatherproof lanterns - "just like from Ali Baba" as my excited 6yo exclaimed), and then set off through the rainforest under the tutelage of Ranger Bruce, who soon had the children under his spell.

A magical time was had by all!
