a lifetime burning

Light and shade(s)

We've arrived safely in St Petersburg and have had a very jolly evening with daughter Jess in a friendly restaurant, which was suggested by her.

In true tourist fashion I've had borsch followed by rabbit dumplings and then a sort of almond cake to finish. All very Russian. It was all well cooked and presented. It was also surprisingly good value, but the Rouble is struggling against western currencies at the moment.

I've taken some shots with the big camera, but my blip for today is of the knitted (or possibly crocheted) lamp shades that adorned the restaurant ceiling. They were very 70s habitat in design. They nicely hide a multitude of construction related sins.

Today was largely taken up with travel and catching up with Jess - tomorrow the sightseeing starts in earnest!
