Marmaris Castle

We stumbled across this little gem today. We were walking through the cobbled streets of old Marmaris when we came across this 16th century castle. It was built on the site of previous castles and has been turned into a small museum if the area.
Inside the castle are rooms either collections from more than 3000 years. Dating back to Pre-Roman and pre-classical Greek tines. There is a large collection of amphorae as well as stone vessels and figures and also some amazingly complete pieces of jewellery, both gold and precious stones. To my mind though the pieces of intact Roman glass were the best. Lustrous opaque glass shining with all the colours of the rainbow. Simply stunning and over 2000 years old.
