Cleaning House!

I blipped the Bushtit nest before, but it was not a close up of the bird leaving the nest. The parents took turns bringing very bright green catapillars to the nest and often leaving with some kind of debris from the nest. This is a shot of what they were removing.

I watched for a couple hours....it was very interesting how they approached the nest in the same way each time, they flew in and their tail stuck up in the air as they bent down to feed their babies, their tail would disappear as they turned around and then their head poked out before a quick fly away to gather more food.

The funniest thing was that the nest would kind of bounce around after a feeding; I could picture the babies fighting for position to get the food!!

You can't see it in this photo, but the nest was tied up with twine by another birdwatcher when it fell from the tree. He did a nice job of supporting the sides and improving the support to the branch! :-)
