Hawaii Tropical Gardens

Splendid botanic gardens on the east (rainy) side of Big Island. The garden is on the site of a small port for the sugar industry that ceased to function about 100 years ago and became completely overgrown. It has been developed over the last 30 years into a world-class garden.

For me an added bonus was the colony of black noddies (tropical sea birds) nesting on cliff ledges, viewable from this spot.
