An Old Airman's Life

Charlie Joyner RIP

Charlie Joyner lived in downtown Fort Worth much longer than I did.  I would often see him as I cycled by his street corner.  A few times, I would feel a nudge to circle back and place a 5 or 10 into his hand.  He wasn't a beggar.  At least, no more than a maître d at your favorite restaurant is a beggar.  He always seemed to be laughing and shaking hands.  Wishing all well.

I had heard of Mr. Joyner's death and corner memorial.  Buddy and I were on our way to offer our prayer for his peace when I noticed the sun breaking through the clouds over the old Santa Fe Railroad Station.  The mood of this shot seemed fitting for our mission.
