BEDFORD Harpur Center

It is a grade 2 listed building designed by Edward Blore in 1831
He did a lot of work on Buckingham Palace, I think this shows in the the design. It was a school for most of its history finally becoming The Bedford Modern. The Harpur Center was named after William Harpur who went to school in Bedford before moving to London he became a successful business man and then Lord Mayor of London 1561 he was knighted by Elisabeth 1st in 1562 he set up a charity which is still in existence today for schools in Bedford.
