My Year

Smart TVs

My photo diary is meant to reflect how we live in 2012.

As it's so cold today, only 7C, which is average for January, we are watching the Jubilee celebrations from the comfort of our lounge.

I thought, why not blip the tv.

It's a Philips 9000 series tv from 2010 and is so clever. It has wireless connectivity, so will browse our computer and play music and photo slide shows, etc., stored on the computer. It also has wireless access to the internet so you can surf the web, though I wouldn't as it's too slow typing using the remote.

It can access the BBC iPlayer and streams tv shows so well you can't tell they're coming from the internet.

We have a hard drive recorder attached which contains all our photos as we find quality better than when sent wirelessly. We hardly print any photos now as we view them all on here.

The shot is of a train passing the Blea Moor Signal Box just north of Ribblehead Viaduct, taken last week when the weather was good. I nearly always shoot in 16 x 9 now as the photos fit better when viewed on a wide screen tv.
