Growing vegetables from seed

The seeds are sprouting - beetroot, carrot, lettuce, runner beans, peas, fennel and broad beans.

The broad beans were intended to be grown from seed, however a mouse was determined to eat them, so I decided to buy some seedlings. The mail order ones were concelled by the supplier when they failed a quality test. I found an end of range wilting pack of six, which have recovered in the cold frame, not before I bought a pack (which turned out to be of 15 plants) from B&Q. Meantime, a number of the seeds that escaped the attention of the mouse are now germinating, so this year there will be a large crop of three varieties of broad beans.
