Got a Railcard after as many as four months passed since I came to the UK.

Throughout the text, Railcard has been activated as well as passivated, giving an impression effectively that Railcard has a power over the users to make their life easier. As in this example, things, which in fact should not have any intention in themselves, are often put in the subject position in English for particular purposes, which always interests me.
