wander, stumble, wonder

Brrrr

The first proper snow of the season, constant showers, howling wind. Brrrrrfect for an outdoor historical drama walk. Louisa's Walk has been going in South Hobart for ten years, and is about to finish up, so its seemed like an appropriate time to finally actually go. It's about the story of one convict woman, Louisa, who was sent out to Van Diemen's Land after stealing a loaf of bread. The group walks from the Cascade Brewery, through the Gardens, down to the Female Factory and then back up again, with different stops at the 'ship' and the 'magistrates' and the 'dock'. Two actors do it all, and there's a lot of imagination. It's well researched (although being a local historian I did get a little nitpicky), and I never regretted my choice to spend two hours standing in the freezing weather to do it. The overpants, rain jacket, boots and hat probably helped.
