Martins mill

This six storey mill was built in the late 1800s and has had varied uses since closing as a textile mill making carpets. In 1961 the Plebeians Halifax Jazz Club rented space at the mill, other occupants included a joinery company, bath makers and in more recent years a packaging company.

During the 1980s the weaving sheds were demolished to make way for the nearby retail park and around the same time the chimney was truncated. By 1988 the mill was only partially occupied and in 2006 planning permission was granted to convert into flats
