Glimpsed

I did actually take some sharp photos of more colourful butterflies, but I liked this soft white one glimpsed through waving grasses, so there!

The usual ceremony at the Monument aux Morts this morning, at which our mayor reminded us not only of the lives lost in two world wars but also of the immigrants who fought for France, with the Free French or as resistance fighters, and of what xenophobia and racism can lead to. An apero in the sun afterwards, and then we somehow ended up at G and V's house, eating bruschetta and drinking wine. We haven't seen them for months as they've been in Paris, so there was plenty to catch up on.

This evening we went to see Clovis Cornillac's new film, Un Peu, Beaucoup, Aveuglément -- a classic, lightweight romantic comedy. The two main characters are neighbours with a very thin wall between them; he is an inventor of complicated puzzles who requires absolute silence to work, and she is a pianist. The eventual outcome is absolutely predictable, but it was really well done, with some clever twists on the idea of them forming a relationship without meeting. So we enjoyed it, just as well as we'll be seeing it again at the outdoor cinema this summer.
