Nose-horned viper

We found this snake playing dead across the track that goes from the village down to the beach. It stayed completely rigid, even when tickled with long bits of grass. But it was clearly not dead as its head was raised in the air, and eyes open and shining brightly. It posed like this for a few photos, then when poked a bit more firmly, it slid off into to the undergrowth. you can see the horn on its nose if you look closely. Apparently it's extremely venomous, more so than the ordinary viper. I might not have got so close with the camera if I'd known that then.
