May Lilies

What a night! A blistering set by Troy MacGillivray and Shane Cooke, two Canadians. I don't think I've ever seen fiddle playing like it. Their last set went on for about half and hour, immaculate timing, full of joy and the whole room rose to their feet in amazement!  We were then treated to Julie Fowlis and her band from north Uist in the Hebrides. What a beautiful voice and all sung in Gaelic. She seemed to be able to sing and play the tin whistle without pausing for breath. We staggered home at about half past one!

More tonight - the  Foghorn String Band again from Portland Oregon (remember the belly dancers from last monday!) - they bill themselves as ass kickin' redneck stringband music! Followed by Dáimh from Scotland complete with bagpipes. Looks like it could be quite a night. No-one could accuse West Cork of ever being dull or insular!

Today - a soothing little empty farmhouse, complete with lilies. I just liked it.
