What's the Time Mr Wolf?

Suppertime.

Not much choice today. It was either a weak sunset from the bedroom window or this spider.

I have been unable to ID this spider but I can tell you that it is male and probably a type of wolf spider.

The large black palps tell me it is a male. They wave them at the female when courting and hope they are impressive enough to be accepted by her. This is a feature, particularly of wolf spiders.

However, I cannot find one with this body colouring and this body shape. My mother thinks the small abdomen may just indicate it is hungry (so don't venture too close).

Seen in Sussex.
