Tree peony

Another lecture written this morning (only one more to go now!) before going to visit Pete's Mum to celebrate her 88th birthday. We had a limited time-slot, as she and her partner watch the Formula 1, which started at five. This rather gorgeous tree peony was flowering in a pot in her garden.

I have to say that the conversation was much more lively than normal, thanks to the election results. Our family naturally hover towards the left of the political spectrum, and all voted Labour this time, while Molly is apparently much more in tune with the rest of the country and voted Conservative. She's a lady of strong views, and I think she rather enjoyed the rather heated debate which ensued - in the end we all agreed to differ and it was actually quite interesting to hear another point of view, as most of our friends and colleagues tend to share our political stance.
