mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys

"cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold, they'd rather give you a song, than diamonds and gold. Lonestar belt buckles and old faded levis, and each night begins a new day. If you don't understand him and he don't die young, he'll probably just ride away"

"mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys. don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks, let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such"

Okay, so Waylon and Willie are sort of strange (yeah I know) men to be - sort of - quoting on "Mother's Day" and well, you're right. But hey, blame me iPod!

My mother was a very different kind of "mother" she never once told me who to be, or what to aspire to, or even suggested I was headed in the wrong direction - okay, that would be according to whom - nope, she just wanted her son to be happy. No matter what

Funny that

Earlier, with genuine tears spilling out of my eyes, I boarded the train to Sacramento, my head filled with the bizarrest (?) of thoughts comparing Miss Johnson with Mrs Johnson and finding more than their shared sex in common: they both just want me to be happy!

"mama's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys, 'cos they'll never stay home and they're always alone even with someone they love"
