Coastal Defences

As we commemorate the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe during the Second World War this weekend and in a year where we mark the bicentennial of the Battle of Waterloo and continue to remember the centennial anniversary of major engagements of The Great War, it is perhaps worth reflecting that the recent election results will mean that Europe will become a battlefield once more in this country over the coming years.

We can count ourselves lucky that at least in this little part of the world, such conflicts are now limited to the ballot box and the debating chamber.

Oh, and it's Mothers Day in many parts of the world today. Bless you all.
