Flower Festival

At first sight it looks like any other estate agents' board and when so many of them appeared around the Hampshire village of Wellow where I live, I did begin to wonder why so many people had decided to sell up all at the same time.
Then I took time to read what it actually said and discovered it was a novel way of promoting the village church's Flower Festival over the late May Bank Holiday Weekend.
Today saw the annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service at the church, St Margarets, where Florence Nightingale is buried, and the Flower Festival scheduled at the Bank Holiday weekend is part of the 800th year anniversary for the church.
The Festival runs throughout the weekend from Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25 with two organ recitals daily.
Support from the estate agency means that no-one in the village can miss knowing about it, with their boards dotted along every road, giving details of the festival date as part of the 800th anniversary.
The Rev Chris Pettet, vicar, says in his Parish Magazine it will be his first flower festival in the village and he is very much looking forward to it.
"Do come to support and enjoy this."
