Busy

Set off early to Eglofs, the hamlet about 20 minutes drive away, to the bee supplier. It is in fact a carpenters who do the bees as a side business and have restricted openng days/times. Got what I wanted plus some bits for MrB.

On the way home got the call to pick up Flash from the ride Angie and Sultan were out on. Although only just after 9:00am it was warm and Flash was very happy to see his lift arrive.

Dashed home, rebrushed the teeth and set off for my annual dentist check up. Important here to have this as you pay less when it comes to having things like crowns. Unlike "normal" (GP/hospital) medical matters which are fully paid by the health insurance, only the basics are covered at the dentists which does include the odd xray from time to time.. So had the check and got my "Bonus Book" stamped. There is a problem tooth from last year which the doc patched up and he reckons it best to simply leave it as it is and if it gets painful, he will pull it and leave it at that. It's not an important one and he doesn't reckon replacing it to be worthwhile - he didn't actually say "at your age"!

Dashed back home and set Angie up with the new lawn tractor which we bought last autumn and because of the weather, never got to use. Today it's first outing. After 12 years of driving the old machine, the new one took some getting used to, but she did a good job.

Meanwhile I started tackling the wretched thuja hedge alongside one of the horse fields and trying to work out how we are going to refence it. Thuja is poisonous for horses but they don't normally touch it. Fencing will be a pain though in terms of keeping the hedge maintained. Work in progress.

Late afternoon Farmer Franz came by during a break in preparing some of his arable fields. A month or two back, we had had our drain alongside the house and horsefield cleared out with piles of the cleared out earth lying alongside. Franz drove over it, levelling and a lightly digging up the surface to allow fresh grass to grow. I might try adding some wild flower seeds.
