Anne's Daily Encounters

Found this beauty sheltered by a hedge

Little after arriving home from work my eldest son payed me a short visit and told me of his encounters on Crete of the past 2 weeks.

One group member had fallen in the Samaria Gorge and had to be transported out on a brancard coz of her knee injury... a lot of organisation to get the gorge guards coming in to take her out  and then the doctor's post in the village was empty. The flesh wound was already treated by my son and it seemed ok, but the patient wanted to be seen by a doctor... they boarded a speedboat of 45 pk and were 'flown' to Sfakia's doctor's post. The young doctor there was outraged that the patient needed her for this 'small' injury late at night ~ and she'd told her my son's first aid given was perfect & enough. The patient flabbergasted over the temperament she'd encountered and sad she could not walk the final 2 days of their journey due to her wounded knee.
Later on the doctor told my son she'd not received her wages yet since 7 months and rather than working according to her 48 hours schedule she works 24/7 for 5000 patients in the wide region. Crazy tho' that the visit to this doctor was not charged! Whatever little she had to do, she'd examined the patient but did not charge costs for that consultation.. how will the Greeks ever come to terms with their economy?!
Apart from this event, my son & his group also faced some young thugs at one hotel they'd stayed who'd intimidated the guests and left the landlord with their unpayed bill of more than 500 euro's + the damage they'd made there... horrible aso's harming the economy too
