Wood Duck

I was shocked this morning to see a male wood duck show up in one of our nearby pond areas.
Not only have I never seen a wood duck in this particular area before, but it should not be here this time of year, and it should not be just floating out in the open like this.
Wood ducks generally 'duck' away at the first sight of people but this one appeared unconcerned.
Well ya never know what might happen on any given day. Nice surprise for today!
