Made It!

The mission for the day; a walk up to Sign of the Packhorse. We've done it a few times, but never from the Kaituna Valley side. Today was the day.

An invitation to one of Adams friends resulted in the whole family joining us, which was awesome. The 5 kids pretty well coaxed each other on, we only saw Adam at Theo at the top, and bottom. Very independent.

Very windy today, but fortunately all but calm all the way up the Kaituna side, until the top, when the full force was realised. Somewhat cool, but we managed lunch outside regardless, there were so many people and the hut was full, and then we headed home. After a brief fly of the kite, in extremely strong winds, pretty exciting!

Didn't time it, but maybe 1.5 hours up and just over an hour down. A great day out.

And yes, the kids were well pleased to make it to the top, with views of Lyttleton Harbour.

Oh yes, As twigs just reminded me, today was a holiday, Queens Birthday. And wouldn't you know it, we saw a supporter at the top, complete with tiara!
